The Porsche 924 had it's good points: perfect balance, good looks and much better handling characteristics than the vaulted 911. However, it was slow.
Porsche addressed this in 1979 by turbo charging this "diamond in the rough", making it only the 2nd street car that Porsche had ever turbocharged (at the time). The results were impressive, making performance nearly that of the 911.... again with much better handling (a car for the average driver).

The 1979 and 1980 model years of the turbo had serious turbo issues, however, if the car wasn't properly maintained and operated... most weren't. In 1981, Porsche improved this problem dramatically. This is the Series 2 version of this car, and these cars (S2 from '81 and '82) are the most sought after versions. This series, as well as having much improved reliability/durability, also features more power; 154 HP to be exact.

That is more HP than the successor 944. With lighter weight, better aerodynamics, and more power, this 931 (as Porsche called it) out-performed the later released 944.

This car up for sale is the 1982 model, which is the last year this classic was made. Later 924S models would employ the much more complex 944's engine (with less horsepower). The styling of the Turbo is also 2nd to none with the perfect balance of front and rear spoilers, sill guards and rear flairs... this car is much better looking than the n/a model or the "S" version.

The distinctive NACA duct lends a particularly nice touch that mildly suggests that this is not a "normal" 924. With only 31,500 miles, this car is amazingly clean and tight. This was not, and is not, a "daily driver" as most 924's were (and that have been driven into the ground by now). This specimen also has the M471 suspension option which provides 5 lug/15" wheels and disc brakes all around.

I bought it from the original owners who had owned it for 30 years. I only fixed a few things on it, and have driven it less than 1,000 miles. I am selling it to make room for a Cabriolet that recently found its way into my garage. The tires are new with only 200 miles on them. Recent service to include Mobil 1 synthetic oil and timing belt change had been made in the last 100 miles.
Picture
Also, within the last 200 miles have been new injectors and new fuel pump (the owner before me had let her set too long and fouled these parts... anyway, they are brand new now). Paint is near perfect. Interior is near perfect. Engine bay is near perfect. I would be willing to bet this is the one of the cleanest 924 Turbo S2's in the country.

A/C blows kind of cold (the heating/cooling on these cars is a weak point to start with). Car is fast and fun to drive. I have tried to capture everything with these photos. If not, please give me a call.

There are moments a writer has to shut his trap and let the subject speak for itself...this is one of them.
