4-6 September, 1981. after dropping out in Hunsrück, Röhrl and Geistdörfer took first at the International ADAC Rallye Vorderpfalz. by the time they got here, at the Sachs Baltic, nothing was stopping them and their GTS...they took first place again edging out the Kleint/Wanger Opel Ascona in second, Smolej/Hohenadel in their Opel Ascona would have to settle for third. these guys and their Carrera GTS were unstoppable.

1-2 August, 1981. well, shit... it wasn't to be for Röhrl and Geistdörfer in this one. they paid the Karmic price for a broken front suspension piece remedied when Kussmaul borrow-robbed a replacement from a spectator's 924...they went off the road later right before the finish where it was all over. rivals Leint/Wagner in the Opel Ascona took first, Eklund/Spjuth in aVW Golf GTI secured second, while Hero/Hopfe took third for Porsche in their 911SC.

17-21 July, 1981. don't let the name Serengeti fool you into thinking this GTS was blasting through the African plains...ADAC should've tipped you off that this, the GTS' third race, took place in Germany. how'd they do? another Röhrl/Geistdörfer victory for the GTS followed by Bohne/Diekmann  B1 Mercedes 500SL in second place and Soltwedel /Mueller B2 Ford Escort in third.

June 19-21, 1981. round 2 (fifth round for the German Rallye series) for the new GTS racer with Röhrl and Geistdörfer giving her the whip where they battled the Kleint/Wagner Opel Ascona throughout the stages. at the end of it all, Röhrl/Geistdörfer brought the GTS to the finish..first.

May 15-17, 1981. this was the world premier for the rallye 924 GTS driven by Walter Röhrl and Christian Gestdörfer and sponsored by Monnet Cognac. despite a crash course in discovering  the GTS' capabilities, they ran the fastest times on 15 of 21 stages. a failed oil pump, an goddamned axle problem, and a couple of punctures weren't enough to put this old girl out...she finished 2nd behind Manfred Hero and Klaus Hopfe's 911SC but ahead of Walter Smolej and Werner Hohenadel's Audi Coupé. one hell of a start.

"Irgendwann in den siebzigern habe ich eine Super-8 Filmkamera (Stummfilm) geschenkt bekommen. Damit habe ich dann damals Rallyes gefilmt. Mitte der achtziger dann auf VHS-Video kopiert und mit Musik unterlegt. Irgendwann die Videos dann digitalisiert. Hier jetzt (aus Urheberrechtsgründen) mit lizenzfreier Musik von YouTube (Audio-Swap). Viel Spaß."
